It all started ten years ago with breakfast between two friends, Randi Shubin Dresner from Island Harvest  and Linda Armyn of Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Linda asked what does Island Harvest need. Randi said.. "Turkeys for our hungry families."

They immediately got to work on The Bethpage Turkey Drive, which instantly became the largest food drive on Long Island.

A decade later, more than 30,000 turkeys and more than 109,000 pounds of food which were then provided to Long Island families facing hardship in time for the holidays.

More than 300,000 Long Islanders live with food insecurity year round.
